(1) Study tour to project sites
Project Implementation Office on August 1-4, 2007 organized a study tour to Kongtong County of Pingliang City, Gansu Province, mainly experts from Research Center for Eco-Environment Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences attended it. The experts got to know the construction of pilot schemes, and data resources of sub-watershed from the departments of poverty alleviation, agriculture, forestry, territorial resources, water resources, etc, as well as the situation of farmers' income, medical care and livelihoods improvement. They also discussed with technicians from part of the above-mentioned departments to get a detailed understand of CWMP, and collected information from Soil and Water Conservation Bureau of Pingliang City, Forestry and Statistics Bureau of Kongtong Couty. Through this study tour, experts deepened their understand of CWMP, and knew the situation and needs of pilot sites.
(2) Study tour to the WB Loan/EU Grant Changjiang and Pearl River Watershed Rehabilitation project

Secretary Unit of CWMP Steering Committee organized a study tour to the WB Loan/EU Changjiang and Pearl River Watershed Rehabilitation Project on August 5-14, 2007, staff from Project Management Offices of Loess Plateau Watershed Rehabilitaion Project attended it. They paid attention to soil erosion measures, participatory experiences, M & E methods, organization and operation, sub-watershed control effects through ecological construction combined with livelihood.
(3) CWMP international project management senior training

CWMP international project management senior training was held from April 8 to 15, 2008 by Secretary Unit of CWMP Steering Committee. Director General of the International Economic & Technical Cooperation and Exchange Center Mr. Yu Xingjun made a mobilization speech, Deputy Director General of Aisa-Pacific Finance and Development Center (AFDC) Mr. Yang Jinlin communicated with trainees on perspectives of the relationship between WB and China, comprehensive ecological management, WB's management concept, China's economy development outlook, etc. More than 40 members were in it, they mainly came from the secretary unit, the project implementation office and project management offices at all levels of Gansu Province.
The trainees said during the eight days they realized the profound culture of Qinghua University and various knowledge systems of project management, they solved certain problems in present project management, besides, they had raised capacity in certain aspects in the management of soil and water conservation foreign investment projects, which had laid a solid foundation for a better implementation in the future.
PIO and PMO at all levels in Gansu Province held a lot of capacity building activities. They also organized study tours and practical technology trainings to increase stakeholders' understand of project concepts and methods. Study tours also were held among the four counties, which have broaden eyes of project management offices and stakeholders, and have raised staff's analyzing and solving ability, as well as raised communities' self-managing consciousness and ability.
