Sediment monitoring is undertaken by Soil and Water Conservation Monitoring Center of Pingliang City. Jiajiyu sub-watershed of Kongtong County is selected as pilot site, where monitoring items are established, such as run-off and sediment site, rainfall site, monitoring sub-district, besides, monitoring equipment are procured and staff are trained before monitoring starts. Now, by the one-year practical monitoring data, sediment changes caused by control measures have been analyzed and evaluated. Due to its long-term and continuous characteristics, sediment monitoring needs data in longer term, then Soil and Water Conservation Center of Yellow River has put Jiajiyu sub-watershed in the list of national key monitored watershed, so as to let the monitoring site continue its role even though the project ends, meanwhile, operation fee and personnel can be secured.
