Workshop on Sustainable Watershed Management closed on December 17, 2008. Director of the dept. of Soil and Water Conservation, MWR Mr. Liu Zhen was present and summed up the meeting, and Director General of CWMP Project Steering Committee Mr. Yu Xingjun presided over the afternoon session.
Mr. Liu Zhen highly praised what CWMP had achieved in his speech, he said, it was the following seven valuable experiences that enabled such fruitful efforts: firstly, thorough preparation secured planning and institution; secondly, collaboration among relevant sectors; thirdly, innovation in concepts and mechanism; fourthly, monitoring and evaluation, fifthly, promotion and dissemination; sixthly, comprehensive effects; and seventhly, scientific support. And it was worth to popularize its experiences in farmers’participation, focusing on disadvantaged group, community-driven development, dissemination and promotion, and monitoring and evaluation, and the dept. of Soil and Water Conservation, MWR would learn them in future practices. He also appreciated the attempt in cooperation with Africa and the support from international aiding agencies, and he wished substantive progress.
On behalf of CWMP Project Steering Committee and the organizer of this workshop, Mr. Yu was much beholden to all relevant sectors for their great supports. He said that the Project Steering Committee would continue to pay attention to international cooperation in soil and water conservation.
