CWMP Steering Committee held conference in Beijing on November 22, 2008. On the meeting, research of Watershed Sustainable Development Management Models was accepted and examined, the committee held workshop on Watershed Sustainable Development Management meanwhile. The conference was presided over by Mr. Yu Xingjun, Director General of CWMP Project Steering Committee, and Director Liu Zhen from the dept. of Soil and Water Conservation was present and made a speech, the other representatives included PSC staff, subject members and invited experts.
Director General Yu introduced the subject and the conference, he said, the subject was aimed at summarizing methods and experiences in soil and water conservation and ecological restoration all over China, and it would be a reference for relevant administration sections to further increase the effects of watershed management. After the achievements report, Mr. Yu pointed out that the subject team should improve the report in details with emphasis on its maneuverability despite the notable achievements had been made.
Mr. Liu Zhen firstly confirmed what the subject team had done, then, he appreciated that they had introduced in new concepts and put forward valuable suggestions in soil and water conservation by summarizing successful experiences. Besides, Mr. Liu raised several requests for revising the achievements reports.
Expert group stated that the research had reached the anticipated result, and it had been technical support for increasing the effects of watershed management as well as developing administrative policies.
Mr. Li Ge, Director of dept. of International Cooperation, Science and Technology, and Mr. Zhu Jiang, Deputy Director General of International Economic & Technical Cooperation and Exchange Center, participated in the meeting as well.
