The WB Loan/EU Grant Changjiang and Pearl River Watershed Rehabilitation Project held its spring supervision summing-up meeting in Kunming City 26 May, 2009. It was presided over by Mr. Sun Chang’an, Director General of the central implementation office. There were more than 30 representatives, mainly officials from the Dept. of International Cooperation, Science and Technology, MWR, the Dept. of Soil and Water Conservation, MWR, the International Economic & Technical Cooperation and Exchange Center, MWR, soil and water conservation bureaus of Yangtze River Water Resources Commission and the Pearl River Water Resources Commission, and the project departments of the four related provinces (city), as well as experts of the WB group.
Ttwo groups made up by officials and experts from WB Beijing Office 11 May started supervising project implementation in 15 pilot counties in the four project provinces (city), i.e. Yunnan Province, Guizhou Province, Hubei Province and Chongqing City. They put focused on project progress, quality, scales, archives and reimbursement, etc. Then, they gathered 25 May in Kunming City and summarized the supervision.
On the summing-up meeting 26 May, the group positively commented the implementation in perspectives of progress, quality and scale, Ms. Sari Soderstrom, head of the WB group, highly appreciated the achievements and also the great support from the Yangtze River Water Resources Commission, such as compilation of introductive documents and relative trainings. Meanwhile, she pointed out the urgency of the project, she hoped to see more achievements when next supervision in autumn.
The project also got confirmation from EU technical assistant group. Leaders from the Dept.of Soil and Water Conservation, MWR and Foreign Investment Office, MWR also gave valuable and introductive advices on how to better implement the project in the future.
