Xinhua News Agency 8 May reported that the 2nd International Desertification Combating Scientific & Technology Conference was going to be held in middle August in Inner Mongolia. It will be themed at sustainable engineering technology and industry development in desertified areas, and regional desertification combating project.
Desertification is a serious eco-environmental problem that affects countries globally, including China. Being held in Inner Mongolia, said the sponsor, was a full show of high level attention to eco-environment in northern China, and it was of great importance to international cooperation and the development of desertification combating.
The conference is held every two years, and it will be sponsored by Xing’an District, Inner Mongolia this year. There will be an exhibition of the technologies and achievements of desertification combating.
Xing’an District of Inner Mongolia is one of the areas affected by desertification the most. In recent years, under some key ecological projects, it has been on the way of scientific development.
